Lunch at Hilton Hotel
Hilton Hotel is considered one of the upscale hotels in Addis. It has well manicured grounds, three restaurants and a geothermal pool. When I visited it was bustling with activities and people.
My boyfriend and I had lunch at the Gazebo restaurant, which sits cozily next to the pool area. It was also quite busy considering it was lunch time. I noticed that Ethiopians have a culture of eating out, similar to that of most middle-upper class Kenyans. The service was a bit slow owing to the fact that it was packed and they only had about four waitresses attending to people. (Or maybe I was just too hungry 😅). However I was not in a hurry so I relaxed and watched people go about their day. The weather was also quite fantastic. 👌🏾
For lunch I ordered sizzling Chinese chicken with vegetables accompanied by rice. My boyfriend had salmon with a side of vegetables and rice as well.
The food was delicious and fresh. Portion wise it was good value for money.
I don’t quite remember how much the food or beverages cost, but it was on the more affordable end.
If you’re looking for a nice place to have lunch with your special someone away from the city, then I definitely recommend the Hilton. 😊
Happy Hour at Village Restaurant & Cafe
Village Cafe is a quaint little restaurant tucked away in the heart of Addis. The Village is devoted to providing fresh, locally-sourced organic ingredients to create exclusive Mexican food and sweets.
When we arrived there they informed us of their happy hour menu and we obliged. 😋
Village restaurant is small and cosy, perfect for date nights. The ambiance itself is also quite chilled and welcoming. You will hardly notice the hustle and bustle of the city right outside it’s doors. (Let me add that the company you’re with also matters 😉❣️).
Since it’s inherently a Mexican restaurant we decided to try their fish and chicken tacos. The fresh corn tortillas were a bit too dense for me but nonetheless tasty tacos. 😍
Happy hour is everyday from 1-5pm
On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a solid 9, only because we almost got lost looking for the place 😂 They can do a better job with the signage.
Location- Meskel Square, Infront of Estifanos Church, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
